Avanta Consulting has been retained by our client Cap-It to seek a Warehouse Supervisor.

The Warehouse Supervisor will be involved in effectively leading and managing the daily activities throughout the Warehouse Distribution Centre. This includes inventory, receiving, putaways, picking, shipping alongside customs compliance and exceptional communication skills. Not to mention, training employees to be strong productive performers while maintaining a high-level of accuracy/safety and developing a positive culture.

Key responsibilities include:

Inventory Systems
  • Perform a variety of system inventory adjustments depending on where identified
  • Prepare, analyze, audit and maintain a variety of daily and weekly reports to ensure accuracy and profitability
  • Ensure product is being processed according to set standards while monitoring and report receive shipments along with cycle counts
  • Monitor and report on physical versus system inventory accuracy
  • Oversee and review damaged product for credit, salvage or disposal, constant interaction with the Returns and Warranty department
  • Document errors, variances, and non-compliance with operations policy and procedures
Receiving
  • Ensure that all inbound material is received, routed and accounted for properly
  • Critical Shipments: tracking and pre-clearing of hot-rush items inbound from the USA
  • Oversee Investigations for inaccurate inventory on shelf related to landing
  • Put away and organize inventory to assigned primary and secondary locations
  • Assign appropriate locations to a new product or when it is necessary to move a product
 Picking
  • Assist in picking stock orders, packing and wrapping orders when necessary
  • Shipping
  • Ensure all outbound products are shipped accurately, with the proper paperwork to include Bill of Lading, Packing List and proper Customer Paperwork
  • Process all required paperwork and maintain adequate records for reporting and tracking shipped products
  • Accurately pick and file all orders assigned
 Shipping
  • Oversee and assist  complete a waybill/bill of lading for each shipment
  • Assist with loading trailers when necessary US & Canada
 Customs Compliance
  • Verification of NAFTA certificates of origin
  • Duty adjustments and tariff clarifications as required on landing (B-2 forms) -TBD
  • Coordinating special order transit through Blaine Washington for time sensitive orders
  • Scheduling Blaine consolidated loads
  • Tariff and duty rate clarification for new vendors, in partnership with Pacific Customs Broker
 Communication
  • Attend and participate in department meetings as required
  • Respond to and deal with customer communication by email, fax, and telephone as required
  • Provide customer service and support to customers, sales and delivery teams by responding to e-mails and incoming telephone calls
 Coaching and Teamwork
  • Provides direction and proper motivation to lead associates to ensure the daily workload is completed in an efficient and cost effective manner
  • Provides new hire and follow up training for all employees
  • Process all administrative duties for hourly associates (vacation request, personal days etc)
  • Able to work with colleagues and management
  • Manage employees and deal with personnel issues such as, training, and discipline of staff
  • Train staff and monitor their performance and progress
  • Ensure productivity targets are met and maintain computerized administration and automated storage and retrieval systems.  For example; ensure all invoices are scanned daily and signed by the appropriate shipper/receiver
  • Ensure the health, safety, cleanliness, and security of the employees as well as their work environment
 General Warehouse
  • Acquire knowledge of Company products and warehousing policies and procedures
  • Provide superior customer service at all times
  • Establish and maintain effective professional working relations, communication and coordination with customers (internal and external), vendors and Company personnel
  • Perform general daily housekeeping tasks within the warehouse
  • Attend and participate in department meetings as required
  • Assist and support office and department personnel as needed by effectively performing miscellaneous warehouse and customer service functions as assigned by the Warehouse Manager.
 
Successful candidates will have:

Education and experience         
  • 5-10 years of progressive experience in warehouse and delivery operations (minimum 5 years and senior management)
  • Warehouse Management System Experience  (Inventory Systems, RF Scanners, Barcodes, Receiving, Putaways, Picking, Shipping Interface, Customs Compliance with high level interaction with Pacific Custom Broker)
  • Experience with operating forklift, scissor lift, powered pallet jack
  • Strong analytical skills and detailed-oriented
  • Must have the ability to provide guidance and work direction to motivate others and maintain improved performance and associate engagement levels
  • Possesses a sense of urgency required in a deadline driven environment and ability to prioritize appropriately physically demands/working conditions
