Director of Operations

Avanta Consulting has been retained by our client, a leading transportation company, to search for a Director of Operations.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Organize office operations and procedures
  • Ensure schedules and objectives are met
  • Supervise and motivate staff
  • To train and monitor the development of staff and give regular detailed reviews
  • Assist in organising, planning and implementing strategy
  • Driver training course
  • Shop bills and vehicle maintenance records and break downs per vehicle
  • Secure adherence to company’s policies and guidelines
  • Create Limo/Taxi Book reports, analyze and interpret the data to management
  • Coordinate with dispatch to manage all communication for single and group bookings as well as arrange and over see manifests
  • Take direction and work with management
  • Manage change implement board driven ideas
  • Collaborate with the board to understand and inform marketing strategy in service to the projects objective
  • To market the company and stay in line with all trends in the industry
  • Create and execute project plans, including deadlines, specs, assets, budget, vendor coordination, status updates, approvals and final delivery
  • Other duties may arise from time to time and be assigned to the employee
  • Develop marketing strategy for the company
  • Planning and implementing promotional campaigns
  • To retain customer accounts
  • To open new accounts and revenue
  • Directing of all transportation activities and relationships
  • Monitoring transport costs/revenues. Objective is to lower operating costs while increasing revenue
Successful candidates will have:
  • 5 years of experience required in a supervisory or management role, preferably in the transportation industry
  • Post secondary or equivalent experience an asset
  • Excellent leadership and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks
  • Direct experience with staff scheduling in a variable work volume environment
  • MS Office proficiency necessary
  • Experience in a 24 x 7 operation, preferably in the transportation industry
